Learning to Fly and Guide Stunt Kites

All kite flying is fundamentally the same.  If you know how to fly a single line kite, you know how to fly a dual line kite.  Stunt kites are multi-line kites that can rip through the air at speeds of over a hundred miles per hour with a hundred pounds of pull in the control lines.  So although the fundamentals are the same, the experience level makes a big difference when it comes to flying stunt kites.  In other words, flying stunt kites is not something that a novice can pick up without practice and education.

In any event, once a person does have the time to master the basics of kite flying and then learns a bit more about stunt flying, he or she will find stunt kites and stunt flying to be a remarkable experience.  Indeed, many a flyer of stunt kites calls the experience, simply: “a blast.”

This type of kite flying (flying stunt kites) does differ in that it requires physical endurance and agility, more physical agility and endurance than is associated with standard kite flying.  When using and flying stunt kites, a person gets a lot of healthy exercise.  In addition, with all of the excitement associated with flying stunt kites, a person can burn off a great deal of stress as well.

The theory behind kite flying, even the flying of stunt kites, is quite simple -- as has been mentioned.   The more you pull on the kite lines and create tension, the more pull and speed the kite will obtain.  In other words, pull or tension on the kite line equals speed and high flying.  Again, the principle holds true for both traditional single line kites as well as dual line stunt kites.

Like so many other sports and pastimes in life, improvement at the flying of stunt kites requires practice.  In addition to this you can purchase Dodd Gross’s videos and DVDs to learn more about flying stunt kites.  These videos can be ordered online or through any major bookseller.  Through these videos, you can learn award winning techniques from the man that has taught the world to fly sports kites.
