Bag Kites

How to make bag kites

Children of all ages love kites.  If you have very young children, you can introduce them into the world of kite flying through bag kites.  Bag kites are perfect for children as young as four years old.

Through this article, we provide you with some basic information on how you can go about making bag kites for and with your children.  The making of bag kites can be nearly as fun of a project for you and your children as is flying the kites themselves.

Making bag kites is an easy process -- and, has been mentioned, fun an enjoyable for both you and your children.

When it comes to the materials that you need for making bag kites, the list is simple.  In anticipation of making bag kites, you will need a simple paper grocery bag.  In addition, you will need paint, markers, crayons, streamers and string.  Some people like to decorate their bag kites with glitter and other such items.  Keep in mind that you should only use items and materials on bag kites that will add weight to them.  Adding weight makes these kites less likely to take off in the end.  (And, naturally, your kids will want to see their handiwork airborne when all is said and done.)

Once you have amassed all of you bag kites supplies and materials, you can begin the process of making your bag kites by decorating the paper grocery bag.  (Keep in mind that there are also white paper grocery bags available.  You might want to consider using both white and brown bags in your bag kites making process to add for some variety in the sky.)

You and your kids can decorate the bag kites by coloring the bags and making drawings with the markers, crayons and paints.  Once the bag kites have been decorated, you can add the streamers.

The final touch is attaching a short string to the bag kites which will be what connects your children to their new flyers.

In the end, you can take your children and their new bag kites outside.  When the children run with their bag kites in tow, the kites will fly behind them.
